Clinical Reflexology in Chessington

What happens in your first appointment?

During your first reflexology session, which typically lasts 90 minutes, I will begin by asking you some questions about your medical history, current health concerns, and any medications or supplements you are taking (if you could please bring a list of medications to your appointment). This information will help me tailor the session to your specific needs and ensure that reflexology is safe for you.

After the assessment, you will be asked to remove your shoes and socks (if you are having foot reflexology) and relax in the chair. I will then begin the session by applying pressure to specific points on your feet using my fingers, thumbs, and palms.

The pressure applied during the session is typically firm but not painful; I focus more on a gentle approach and I will work systematically through each foot, focusing on the reflex points that correspond to your specific health concerns.

The session typically lasts between 60 minutes, and during this time, you may feel a range of sensations, including warmth, tingling, or a sense of relaxation. You may also feel some discomfort or tenderness in certain areas, which is normal and should subside after the session.

After the session, I will give you some aftercare advice, such as drinking plenty of water, avoiding caffeine and alcohol, and taking time to rest and relax. It is important to note that everyone's experience of reflexology is unique, and the benefits and effects of the session may vary from person to person.

Feel free to reach out to me at Soul2Sole if you have any questions about how reflexology may be able to help you. You can do this by telephone/email/WhatsApp and I will be happy to answer any questions you may have. Feet and Facial Reflexology

Some people have reflexology just to give them time to relax, reconnect and boost their health. For many, it can stimulate the body’s natural powers of healing, helping remove toxins and restore a sense of wellbeing.

For others, through reflexology they are able to find relief from a number of ailments and conditions, including anxiety, insomnia, hormonal issues, digestive issues and chronic pain. However, everyone’s experience of reflexology is personal to them, with some people feeling more specific benefits than others.

Fertility, Pregnancy and Maternity

If you are trying to get pregnant, fertility may help as it focuses on the reflexes that link directly to the reproductive system as well as focusing on reducing stress and anxiety by focusing on rebalancing your nervous system. During pregnancy, reflexology can reduce stress and anxiety as well as balance your system so your baby gets the nourishment it needs.

As well as reducing stress and anxiety, maternity reflexology can also help reduce the aches and pains associated with pregnancy. After having your baby, reflexology can help restore your body’s hormonal balance, boosting your milk production and your immune system.

Cancer and Palliative

In the context of cancer and palliative care, reflexology can not only help reduce anxiety and help with depression associated with the disease, it can also be used to help manage symptoms such as pain, nausea, and fatigue.

By boosting the immune system and helping with sleep disruption, reflexology can help improve the quality of life for anyone undergoing cancer treatment.

Zone Face Lift

The Zone Face Lift is a holistic facial treatment developed by Ziggie Bergman, a leading facial reflexologist and a pioneer in facial rejuvenation techniques. The treatment is based on the principles of ancient healing therapies such as reflexology, facial massage, and acupuncture, and aims to provide a natural, non-invasive alternative to traditional facelift surgery.

What happens during a treatment?

During a Zone Face Lift treatment, I use a combination of massage, facial reflexology, gua sha, crystal healing, and facial cupping to stimulate the lymphatic and circulatory systems, release tension in the facial muscles, and promote overall relaxation and rejuvenation.

The treatment focuses on specific reflex points on the face that correspond to different organs and body systems, and I work systematically through these points to help balance the body's energy and stimulate natural healing processes.

It is important to note that the effects of the treatment may vary from person to person, and several sessions may be required to achieve optimal results.

How it may help

The Zone Face Lift treatment may help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, reduce puffiness and dark circles, lift and tone the facial muscles, and promote overall relaxation and wellbeing. The treatment is non-invasive and does not involve any needles or chemicals, making it a safe and gentle alternative to more invasive facial rejuvenation procedures, such as Botox.

*If recent Botox or Fillers have been used, treatment can only be given after 3 weeks.

Some frequently asked questions...

Does reflexology hurt?

Reflexology is generally not painful, but it can be uncomfortable in some areas, especially if there is a lot of tension or congestion. However, the pressure applied during a reflexology session should not be overly painful or cause any injury.

The pressure applied by the reflexologist is typically firm but not painful, and any discomfort should be brief and subside as the session continues. Some areas of the feet or hands may be more sensitive than others, and the therapist will adjust the pressure accordingly to ensure your comfort.

If you do experience pain during a reflexology session, it is important to let your therapist know immediately so they can adjust their technique or pressure. Reflexology is meant to be a relaxing and therapeutic experience, and any pain or discomfort should be avoided.

What is the difference between reflexology and a massage?

Reflexology and massage are two different therapies that involve touch and can help promote relaxation and relieve stress, but they differ in their focus and techniques.

Reflexology is a therapy that involves applying pressure to specific reflex points on the feet or hands that correspond to different organs and body systems. The pressure is applied using the therapist's fingers, thumbs, and palms, and the aim is to stimulate the body's natural healing processes, improve circulation, and promote overall wellbeing. Reflexology does not typically involve the use of oils or lotions, and the client remains fully clothed during the session. I tend to use wax for my treatments on the feet.

Massage, on the other hand, is a therapy that involves manipulating the soft tissues of the body, such as muscles and tendons, using various techniques such as kneading, stroking, and stretching. The aim of massage is to relieve tension, promote relaxation, and improve circulation. Massage typically involves the use of oils or lotions, and the client may need to undress partially or fully for the therapist to access the areas being massaged.

While both reflexology and massage can be beneficial for promoting relaxation and relieving stress, they differ in their techniques and focus. Reflexology is focused on specific reflex points and does not involve the manipulation of soft tissues, while massage involves the manipulation of soft tissues and does not necessarily focus on specific reflex points.

How often should I have reflexology?

The frequency of reflexology sessions will depend on the individual's needs and goals, as well as their overall health and wellbeing. In general, a reflexology session can be a relaxing and therapeutic experience, but it may take several sessions to achieve optimal results.

For general health and wellbeing, a reflexology session once a month may be sufficient to help reduce stress, promote relaxation, and support the body's natural healing processes. However, if someone is dealing with a specific health issue, more frequent sessions may be necessary to achieve the desired results.

For example, someone who is dealing with chronic pain or a specific health condition may benefit from weekly or bi-weekly reflexology sessions to help manage their symptoms and support their overall health and wellbeing.

Ultimately, the frequency of reflexology sessions will depend on individual needs and goals, and it is important to consult with a qualified and experienced reflexologist to determine the best treatment plan for you.

What do I need to do to prepare for reflexology?

Before having a reflexology session, there are a few things you can do to prepare:

  • It is important to drink plenty of water before and after your session to help flush out any toxins and support the body's natural healing processes. It is best to avoid eating a heavy meal before your session, as this can make you feel uncomfortable during the treatment. Instead, eat a light, healthy meal a few hours before your appointment. It is best to avoid alcohol and caffeine for at least a few hours before your session, as these substances can interfere with the body's ability to relax and heal.
  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing that allows you to relax and breathe easily during the session. You may also want to wear socks or bring a pair with you to keep your feet warm.
  • It is important to communicate with your therapist before and during the session to let them know of any health concerns, sensitivities, or specific areas of discomfort that you may have.
  • Arrive on time: Arrive at your appointment on time to allow yourself plenty of time to relax and prepare for your session.

By following these simple steps, you can help ensure that you have a relaxing and effective reflexology session.

If I have ticklish feet, can I still have foot reflexology?

Yes, if you have ticklish feet, you can still have reflexology. However, it is important to let your reflexologist know about your ticklishness so they can adjust their techniques and pressure accordingly.

Ticklishness can sometimes make it difficult to relax during the session, which may interfere with the effectiveness of the treatment. However, a skilled reflexologist can work with you to help you feel more comfortable and relaxed during the session.

If you are concerned about ticklishness, you may want to start with a shorter session and gradually work up to longer sessions as you become more comfortable with the techniques and pressure.

Overall, reflexology can be a relaxing and therapeutic experience, even if you have ticklish feet. By communicating with your reflexologist and practising relaxation techniques, you can help ensure that you have a positive and effective session.
